The CD-ROM Professionals

Why PDF?

Adobe PDF retains the exact look and feel of any document, whether it was created in Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect, captured from a Web site, or scanned from paper. Fonts are imbedded insuring that the document retains the impact that you intended, even though the viewer may not have the fonts installed on their computer system.

What good is a document you can’t open? Whether you create business plans, spreadsheets, graphically rich brochures, or Web sites, converting to Acrobat PDF will allow anyone to open your document across a broad range of hardware and software, and it will look exactly as you intended — with layout, fonts, links, and images intact.

Adobe PDF documents can be reliably viewed and printed across a broad range of hardware and software platforms with free Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® software. Free Acrobat Reader software is easy to download from a number of sources. More than 300 million copies have been distributed worldwide.

Using the PDF format, there is no longer a need to generate and maintain a separate file for each purpose. The same Adobe PDF file can be published and distributed anywhere: in print, attached to e-mail, on corporate servers, posted on Web sites, or on CDROM. Compact Adobe PDF files are smaller than their source files, can be downloaded a page at a time for fast display on the Web, and don’t slow down your network.

With Acrobat technology, you can securely and reliably exchange, share, review, and mark up proposals, specifications, project schedules, and even complex CAD drawings. Advanced security options let you protect proprietary information by preventing users from printing or altering your documents.

What’s the bottom line? If you distribute documents electronically, you should be doing it in Adobe PDF.
